Abstract
Cytogenetic study was performed on 216 couples who had recurrent spontaneous abortion. Karyotyping of their peripheral blood lymphocyes was made on 108 patients and 98 their husbans.
The overall incidence of chromosomal abnormality was 5.5%(11/206). The incidence in chromosomal abnormality of patients(8.3%) was higher than that of husbands(2.0%). Translocation was detected in 5 patients(2.4%, 5/206). Pericentric inversion and
variants of long or short arm were detected in 3 patients(1.5%, 3/206), respectively.
This study suggests that karyotyping is useful screening method in couples with recurrent spontaneous abortion.
